Rural Youth Ideas Hacks

If you are aged 18 - 30 years old, come and join the Rural Youth Project’s first Ideas Hacks of 2022.

These fully-funded weekends, kindly supported by Scottish Rural Network, Scottish Government and Jane Craigie Marketing, will give you the opportunity to hack out some ideas for the future, right in the heart of rural communities.

So what is a Hack?

The Rural Youth Project wants to raise the voice of the younger population, by creating a platform for creative ideas, networking, and mentorship. We look at the potential of a community and ask the next generation of leaders to share their own ideas, that would make the area an even better place - somewhere that meets the needs of you, the next generation.

It brings voices from local industry, public and third sector organisations, to stimulate a conversation about the future.

Huntly and Hoy are rich in potential - we want to ensure that you are in a position to elevate your voice, and harness the opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.

A hack is a creative, welcoming, motivating platform to build connections and transform potential into opportunity, now and for the future.

When will they take place?

You can apply for one or both of the following hacks.

  • Huntly, Aberdeenshire - Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March
  • Hoy, Orkney Islands - Friday 8th to Sunday 10th April 2022

How does it work?

We will be bringing together six individuals from the location (Huntly or Hoy) and six from outside of the area. You’ll meet Community Leaders, Innovative Enterprises, and Local People.

These communities are building a vision for the future, and want to hear what, you, think the opportunities are!

All accommodation, meals and travel within the UK is included. If you wanted to arrive or stay an extra day or two, this is no problem - just let us know before any travel arrangements are made. Any additional accommodation and meals will be at your own cost.

The Idea Hacks will help us to create a youth-led Ideas Hack Toolkit, the will be shared and used by communities right across Scotland.

Our Promise

The Weekend will be fun, with delicious food, sourced locally. You will meet great people, learn something new and be inspired.

Come and join us, and be part of the movement to drive Scotland’s communities forward!

Apply using the form below and we will be in touch within 2 working days to confirm if you have been offered a place.
